Review: Season 5: Episode 7, The Shimmering Shells *SPOILERS*

This week's episode was good! I think it's my favorite of the Season so far. :) There was only one or two things I didn't really like.

First we see where we left off the the last episode. Remember that shadow?

Well... it was Lenny. Bajeezuz Lenny, you make a large shadow. Anyway, she bonds with Aisha and becomes her bonded selkie. (Looks like their names are selkies, not Pescix. Darnnit-- Selkie is a different species.) A little cheesy of a cut scene as you can see with Stella's version below, but hey, it wasn't any better with the pixies.

We see Musa, Tecna and Flora examining the cave the girls are about to go in and say that it looks confusing. I'm a little confused, mainly because that was the end of their magical reality thing.... what was the use in that? Oh well. It wasn't bad or anything. The girls actually going see it and say something similar. They enter and see Tritannus has mutant oiled it too... danggit Tritannus, you really went out of your way to get everywhere, didn't you.

So they enter, Lenny gets knocked out, and then the Winx girls get knocked out. Then starts the Inner Problems sequence from the preview clip. It was solved really easily-- Aisha realized Nabu wouldn't say stuff like that and told the other girls it was a trick. The other girls realize that, and then the 'Inner Problems' sequence ends. A little disappointing-- they didn't prove self-confidence at all with it, really. Only Aisha did. It was nice seeing the nightmares though. As mention in my post about the preview clip, I really liked Stella's.

They then proceeded to do something with some Shimmering Shells that really didn't help them at all... they just started telling them a riddle to find the gem of self confidence which I really didn't hear, so I don't have an opinion on it. (I though they were supposed to get it here though?) The girls get home to Alfea and discuss the riddle. We see Stella's Sirenix guardian-- first time we've seen one! Looks like they're not the selkies, like most people thought they'd be. I really like that they didn't go the cute route with their designs, they decided to do pretty instead. Anyway, Stella asks her to solve the riddle and of course she says no. Because I mean what kind of guardian would she be if she said yes. Stella then realizes the answer on her own, it's on Solaria so they decide to head to Solaria.

We see a little bit with Bloom and Sky talking about him and Diaspro and he tells her she was super boring to talk to. Woohoo Sky. I wonder if Diaspro will come back this Season after that... doubt it. It was probably just for the fans that time.

Bloom gets a call from her parents about pollution spreading on Earth... that's Tritannus' doing. He needed more oil. He said that earlier. I just forgot to mention it haha.

The group then splits up-- Bloom, Musa, and Tecna go to Earth to stop Tritannus and Stella, Flora, and Aisha go to Solaria to find the Gem of Self Confidence.
I really liked both these parts!

On Earth Icy makes some oil workers throw oil into the ocean for Tritannus, and he absorbs it. They go on like that for a while. Wait...

THERE ARE SOME MERZOMBIE TRITANNUS MINIONS BEHIND THEM I ASSUME THEYRE NEREUS AND LIGEIA BUT WAIT WHAT, THEYRE FLOATING HOW DO THEY FLOAT WHAT.

Floating merzombies aside (never thought I'd say that phrase) the Winx arrive and transform into Harmonix, while Sky who came with them struggles to work his sword which he has forgotten how to use due to his memory loss. Oh, Sky. I do like that the memory loss isn't taking up much of the plot though. They realize it's not what to focus on.

Their attacks are so much nicer then Believix, ooh! They're still not as good as Magic Winx or Enchantix attacks, but MUCH better then Believix. For some reason when they got Believix they got ridiculously weaker. Who knows why.

Long story short, the girls defeat Icy and then Sky has another memory flash thing... of the pendant of Eraklyon GET OUT PENDANT OF ERAKLYON. MY GOD ITS GETTING ANNOYING... but I don't know what that memory flash even did for him, it couldn't have restored his memory right?

Anyway, on Solaria, Stella meets her bonded Selkie-- Eliris. I think that's how you spell that. Gatekeeper of the Solaria oceans... which Tritannus took the powers of earlier in the episode. Looks like they're each getting the Gatekeeper of their planet. That's okay. I like that Eliris isn't prissy like you'd expect Stella's to be. She's a normal person. Er, selkie.

They then go to an underwater cavern with a shield in it, that was spreading up light to the top of the ocean. But then... a mutant jellyfish arrives! It's from when Tritannus polluted Solaria. It apparently has the powers to turn people to stone... because it turned Flora to stone! (Yes I was right, that statue in the preview was Flora!) The jellyfish comes after Aisha and Stella then, but Stella grabs the shield and uses it to send the attack back at the monster.

She then points it at Flora... and she gets turned back? That and the pendant thing were the two things that bothered me this episode. Why'd that turn her back? I mean, I don't care if they bring her back easy as casting a spell on her, but how does a shield help? Stella then says that she thinks the Gem of Self Confidence was the gem in the shield, and it was. It then appears in each of the girls' Sirenix boxes
That's pretty much the end of the episode... in the next episode preview we see the Winx go to Melody! Woohoo, it's very pretty. (I guess those 8-13 rumored episode descriptions are true.., waiting to post them until we know for sure though.) But Musa gets turned into a beast!

...wait, didn't we just do that with Tecna? Oh well. It was fun the first time. Sure it'll be the second time. I don't understand what's up with Musa's monster form though. It doesn't look anything like Musa. It's like a weird merzombie blob dog.

That's it for this episode's review, overall I'd give it about an 8 out of 10. :) I liked it! Be sure to check back next week for the next review, on The Ruby Reef!
